Our approach
Platform migration
DogChef wanted to invest in their digital presence. Their website supported multiple languages and was built on Webflow. The way how Webflow handles multilingual websites is not SEO friendly. It displays all languages at once and swaps with javascript the current language.
To be able to give them the best multilingual support for their editors, we migrated their website completely to WordPress to have the broadest multilingual support and custom ownership of the website.
Design
The designs of the website are made in-house at DogChef with their branding team. Weichie.com did not do any design work for this project. All assets for the website are delivered in Figma by DogChef and our team has collaborator access to all design files.
Development
DogChef hosts their website in-house on their own servers. We have a pipeline setup that runs and builds only the template files from GIT to their server. Plugins, imports and database pushes are disabled on the server.
The entire DogChef website is custom made on WordPress, based on the delivered designs from DogChef itself and hosted on their own amazon servers.
Communication
Besides email communication and meetings with the team, we also have collaborator access to a mixed Slack channel. This way we are directly in touch for emergencies, quick questions or help & advice when managing the website.
The website is equipped with a lot of handy tools and smooth animations to make the site more dynamic.
Price Calculator
The DogChef website is equipped with a calculator tool to quickly calculate what the cost would be if you started with DogChef. It’s based on the weight of your dog and you can see immediately what your daily cost would be if you went full DogChef, half pension or only stick with kibbles.
Store Locator
Not sure where to buy their Kibbles or other products? (if not delivered at home). The website offers a customized store locator with shops in France, Benelux, Germany, … You can start from your own location, or search by zip-code to find a store near you.
Reponsive Tab Navigation
The header navigation on your computer has a dropdown functionality. Of course, mouse-over effects on mobile devices does not exist. To make sure all information remains available on a smaller device, the navigation of DogChef supports multiple dimensions.
Scroll Animation
When scrolling through the website you can see that some elements on the website animate when you scroll. These are very subtle animations to show or hide sections, change colors, rotate elements, …
After DogChef, Catchef was born!
We extended the current Dogchef website and created a seamless copy. The same template, yet different specifications for each website.
A double pipeline setup
The two websites have their own database, so all content & products on those websites are managed separately. However, most of the product specific content is handled by the ERP.
Our pipeline is updated to make it possible for us to automatically deploy to two websites at once! Making maintenance, urgencies & deployments super easy.
