Branding & Design

The Los Tontos branding came from our colleagues at Kantoor KOLOS in Mechelen. Once the branding and web design were approved, the work moved to us and we started development.

Development

The site runs on WordPress, set up so the client can edit it quickly and without friction. Prices shift and menu items come and go, so updating them had to be simple. We built a custom theme from scratch to bring the KOLOS designs to life exactly as designed.

Deployment

The client had already registered their own hosting, so we deployed straight to their environment. We also configured the email addresses and made sure the site could send mail from their domain.

The website has a few interactive touches hidden through it. Let’s see if you found them all.

Image Hover

The hero image on the homepage morphs into a different WebGL scene when you hover over it, then settles back to its original state once you move your mouse away. On mobile, the same effect works on touch.

Menu Image Hovers

Scroll down the homepage and you get a quick glimpse of the menu. Hover over a menu item and a picture of that dish or drink appears inline, right beside it. The transitions are smooth enough that running your cursor up and down the list, watching the images change, is its own small pleasure.

Main Menu Navigation

The main menu slides down from the top, staggering the items in one by one, followed by the images fading in on the left and right. On mobile, the images are hidden to save space. Switch between the drinks and food menus and you get a letter animation, paired with a fade-out, fade-in of the items.
