Strategy
Our approach
-
Platform migration
DogChef wanted to invest in their digital presence. Their site supported multiple languages and ran on Webflow, but the way Webflow handles multilingual sites is not SEO friendly: it loads every language at once and swaps the active one with JavaScript.
To give their editors proper multilingual support, we migrated the site entirely to WordPress. That gave them the broadest language support and full ownership of the website.
-
Design
The designs were made in-house at DogChef by their branding team. Weichie did no design work on this project. All assets are delivered in Figma by DogChef, and our team has collaborator access to every design file.
-
Development
DogChef hosts the site in-house on their own servers. We set up a pipeline that builds and pushes only the template files from Git to their server; plugins, imports, and database pushes are disabled there. The entire site is custom-built on WordPress, based on DogChef’s own designs and hosted on their Amazon servers.
-
Communication
Alongside email and team meetings, we share a mixed Slack channel with DogChef. That keeps us in direct contact for emergencies, quick questions, and any help or advice needed while managing the site.
The DogChef website is built with handy tools and subtle animations that give it a more dynamic feel.
Price Calculator
The DogChef website includes a calculator to quickly work out what starting with DogChef would cost. It’s based on your dog’s weight, and you can see right away what you’d pay per day whether you go full DogChef, half pension, or stick with kibble.
Store Locator
Not sure where to buy their kibble or other products, if you’re not getting them delivered? The site has a custom store locator covering shops across France, the Benelux, Germany, and beyond. Start from your own location or search by zip code to find a store near you.
Reponsive Tab Navigation
On desktop, the header navigation opens as a dropdown. Mouse-over effects don’t exist on touch devices, of course, so to keep every bit of information reachable on smaller screens, the DogChef navigation adapts across dimensions.
Scroll Animation
As you move through the site, certain elements animate into view as you scroll. These are kept subtle, just enough to add life to the page without ever getting in the way.
