Los Tontos is a popular Mexican restaurant in Elewijt. Enjoy a margarita, taco or a Jarrito in a pleasant atmosphere.
Our Approach.
The Los Tontos Restaurant branding was provided by our colleagues at Kantoor KOLOS in Mechelen. After branding and webdesign got approved, it got transferred to us and we could start the development phase for this website.
The website is created on WordPress and ensures a simple & quick way to edit the website. If prices or menu items change, the client needs to be able to update those on the website.
We created a new custom theme from scratch to build the designs from branding agency KOLOS flawlessly.
The client already registered their own hosting for this website and we deployed to their environment. Additionally, we made sure the email addresses where setup correctly and that the website was allowed to email from their domain.
Behind the scenes.
The website uses some interactive elements when browsing through. Let’s see if you’ve found them?
The hero image on the homepage morphs into another WebGL scene when hovering it. Leaving the image with your mouse, morphs the image back to it’s original state.
This also works on touch for mobile devices.
When you scroll down on the homepage, you can see a quick glimpse of the menu. Hovering the menu-items displays a picture of that drink/dish in-line next to it.
Because of it’s smoothness, it’s very nice hovering up and down over the menu to see the images change.
The main menu slides down from the top, staggering the menu-items one by one followed by the fade-in of the images on the left & right. On mobile, the images are hidden due to lack of space.
When you navigate to the menu and switch between the drinks- and foodmenu, you see a letter animation complimented by the fadeout-in animation of the menu items.
The Branding
The branding for Los Tontos is completely build from scratch by our branding partner KOLOS.
The entire branding for Los Tontos screams authentic Mexican vibes. Los Tontos didn’t want to go super kitch, but it’s also not a Michelin star restaurant. They want to hover the line between kitchy cantina and a nice dine-in restaurant.
The branding also relies hard on line drawing illustrations with a fun catch-phrase. A bit bolder, to again illustrate the perfect mix between kitchy Mexican style restaurants and fancy dine-in places.
