Experience a summer brimming with activities, excursions, festivals, and concerts. Mechelen offers everything needed for an unforgettable summer.
Our approach.
Whether one wishes to unwind in nature, dance until the early hours, or simply relish a balmy summer evening, “De Zomer is van Mechelen” looks forward to welcoming visitors and enjoying the sunny days and enchanting evenings together.
Brandin and webdesign for this project was made by our partners in crime at Kantoor KOLOS in Mechelen. They’re a creative branding agency taking care of both the offline as online branding.
Once the webdesign is ready and approved it gets shipped to us for the development works.
The website for De Zomer Is Van Mechelen is built on WordPress to be as flexible as possible. Everything on both websites is editable by the client and automatically takes the correct theme colors based on the website they’re editing.
There is a summer and a winter website available. The two websites are an exact copy of each other and it’s very important that we don’t need to make every update twice. When improvements are made at one website, it’s neccessary to also make those improvements on the other website.
We use bitbucket pipelines to create our CI/CD setup, with 4 branches. A live- & Dev branch for the summer site and a live- & dev branch for the winter website. When making an update in our development brach, we can deploy the features to all other branches and based on the environment file on each website, the correct theme colors and template parts are loaded.
Experience the Vibrant Shades.
The Mechelen Summer/Winter websites have a variety of color themes available. The theme of the websites is exactly the same, making it possible for us to make changes on one website, and automatically deploy the tweaks to both sites.
Based on the branch (winter or summer) we push to, the color schemes will apply.
Mechelen Summer has a summer contrast, with light red/orange colors. Only if you go to a specific event, the color scheme switches to green. This is for their own event that needed to stand out on the website more than the rest.
While the green represents a temporary detour in your visual journey, signifying Parkpop’s distinctive experience, all paths eventually lead back to Mechelen Summer’s signature theme.
For Mechelen Winter a more cozy, winter color theme was chosen. To fully immerse you into the winter setting and prepare you for the cold nights! But not to worry, The City of Mechelen will keep you warm.
For accessibility reasons on the extended color themes, we also applied a high-contrast mode on the website to make sure the website remains easy accessible by everyone.
